Friends of the Dunedin Botanic Gardens

Information Centre

The Information Centre in the Lower Gardens is run entirely by our wonderful volunteers, and we would be lost without their help. If you have a question about the Garden or your visit, this is the place to go.

Call in to pick up a map of the Garden, or download one here.

We have a range of brochures about the specific collections in the garden and our
welcoming volunteers are onsite to help you get the most out of your visit, and of course, you can pick up some food to feed the (sometimes overly) friendly ducks.

The shop now stocks a collection of botanically themed gifts, selected with our travelling visitors in mind they are mostly flat and compact but that’s not to say our local visitors won’t also appreciate them. Flat packed tote bags, coasters and tea towels make perfect stocking fillers or easy gifts for overseas travellers.
The range includes these beautifully packaged boxed soaps, a luxury triple milled handcrafted soap containing sustainable sodium palmate, enriched with moisturising shea butter, cocoa butter and manuka honey, and scented with frangipani and manuka honey. The soaps come in boxes featuring vintage New Zealand flora designs from the ‘Old Master’ decoupage series by Tanya Wolfkamp of Wolfkamp & Stone. We also stock a range of matching greeting cards. The soaps and boxes are made in New Zealand.

We also stock Yates Native Seeds Landscaping Range, a range of iconic kiwi natives including favourites like pōhutukawa, nikau palm and kōwhai. Special varieties such as the elegant tussock grass and the striking blue and white Chatham Island forget-me-not are also featured in the range.

From the Kings Seeds range we stock a variety of sprouting seeds and lids for your Agee jar, and a range from their best selling flowers and vegetables.

Also, check out our new selection of Penguin Random House books – something for everyone from the amateur ornithologist to the budding artist in your family.

The proceeds from sales go towards the Friends of the Dunedin Botanic Garden projects.

The Information Centre is open every day except Christmas Day and Easter Sunday
from 10am until 4pm.
